The Outlaw Gallery exhibition area is approximately 70 square metres, with sloped ceilings rising to five metres at the western edge. It’s located in the former Fletcher Jones buildings in Flaxman Street, Warrnambool. As such, the gallery is an ex-industrial space; we’re more about dust and rust than a Better Homes & Gardens aesthetic. The eastern edge of the gallery will, in the immediate future, feature a shop area behind movable internal walls, which will be closed at each exhibition launch.
Outlaw’s display area also includes the external corridor, offering anywhere between fifteen and thirty horizontal metres of additional hanging space.
Who hires the Outlaw Gallery?
We regularly run exhibitions containing up to a hundred artworks; as such, we love group shows. These allow exhibitors to share costs, tend to attract very healthy launch crowds, and provide a great opportunity for emerging artists to exhibit their art in a supportive environment. We also welcome large solo shows by established artists.
We encourage emerging solo artists with smaller bodies of work to consider teaming up with a fellow artist, or artists, for a split exhibition.
Hire rates for the Outlaw Gallery
Exhibition rates from April 2017 are $600 per month to hire the gallery, and a 20% commission on all sales made.
These rates bring us into line with other galleries in the Warrnambool area, and will allow us to gradually expand our opening hours and employ strategies to encourage patronage by the tourist market. The Fletcher Jones heritage gardens and Fletcher Market complex already attract a healthy foot traffic, and Montgomery Motorsport is slated to open a classic car museum and cafe in the Fletcher Jones complex in early 2017, which should dramatically increase our number of visitors.
The Outlaw Store
We currently charge a 20% commission on sales in the store area (with zero rental costs to the artist). The store area is under construction. If you would like to include your art in the store area, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
